Welcome Home Oetjen Family (of 5!)

We are very happy for our friends, The Oetjen's, who have just returned home from China with their 10 year old daughter, Mia. We can't wait to see them and meet her! I had the pleasure of being their "guest blogger" which means I got to read all their posts and see all their pictures before anyone else. What a treat! ;-)

In other news, we are getting closer to closing and I haven't started packing because I can't figure out where to start! I'm guessing it will all be thrown into boxes and end up somewhere....
Here is a picture of the new Walker house, as long as everything continues to head in the right direction. No worries, God is in control!!

Whirlwind Atlanta!

As a sweet reward, for a very hard working little girl who managed straight A's in 2nd grade, my in-laws blessed my little girl with a trip to Atlanta to visit the American Girl Store! She chose to enlarge her clan of dolls with Kanani, the 2011 Doll of the year. She hails from Hawaii, so you know there's some cool accessories that go along with that!!
Fortunately for the adults, the store is within a mall, so we aren't limited to an entire day in the store. With all the things to look at, it would be easy to do, though (along with a bazillion other little girls, their dolls, and parents/grandparents). It just so happens there is a bistro within the store, so you could stay all day.... seriously.... There's even a hair salon for the dolls! AG seriously has this market cornered.
We planned ahead and added the American Girl Package to our room. At first, she passed right by the perfectly placed display of AG goodies! Then she turned around and gasped and had her big brown eyes planted on what was to become hers! An american girl bed, pillow and blanket. An AG Doll beach towel, AG Doll magazine (for poolside reading, no less), an AG Doll tote bag, sandals and sunglasses!!

When she learned they were hers to keep, she exclaimed with utter joy "How did they know I was coming here for the American Girl store???" She's just perplexed with that fact, and we're not telling her it was us. Just our way of trying to make her feel extra special!
As I type, she's finally settled in for the night with Kanani (Her poor look-a-like doll, Nicole was booted to the side chair in the room) and planning her next adventure to the store tomorrow!! We agree that going to the store is like walking through the catalog that comes in the mail every once and a while. I know she is thrilled and probably overwhelmed. She's journaling about her trip - so it will be interesting to hear her perspective of what she thinks about this special trip!

She blesses my life more than I can imagine - I love to see her face light up like it did today!

M*I*A

So, I have blogged in a very long time. Life has been crazy for the last few years. Still waiting to get settled. Not sure when that will happen.
Kaeli is now 7-1/2. I am trying to figure out where time went. I looked back through the original blog and can't believe how little she once was. I look at her now and think she's going to be a teenager before I know it.
We just wrapped up 2nd grade! Kaeli had a great school year - made new friends, tried new things and is ready to take on more. She's now into American Girls, her ipod and all the free apps that are possible! Right now she loves Francesca Battistelli . She can't understand why anyone would sing a song that doesn't honor God. I'm glad she thinks that way!
So, I'm going to try to get back into blogging and keeping a record of her growing up years - hang on, you never know what will be going on next!!

Early Birthday/Christmas present

Grandma & Grandpa provided an early present for you-know-who (wink, wink). I haven't seen her for the last few hours!
Kaeli helped Daddy put her new dollhouse together and we removed her play kitchen from her room. More signs that she's growing up!

Let the fun begin!!!

Isn't this supposed to happen when she's older?

I've been booted. Roger too. Kaeli made this sign for her bedroom door the other day. Note: "Ole"="Only" We were given strict instructions that we could enter her room "Only to check on me". Note picture of me and roger with big "X"'s crossing us out. When Roger went to "check on her", the rules had softened to "but you can stay if you want to play with me, daddy!!" Ah, there's my 5 year old!!! I thought we had jumped straight to 16 for a minute there!!!
